Nelson DeMille has made a name for himself for writing some truly suspenseful books, this along with breaking away from the norm of capping stories off with typical Hollywood movie endings, some of the best books in Nelson’s bibliography including the following: Nelson DeMille has had the honor of seeing three of his books receive movie adaptations, namely: The General’s Daughter in 1999, Word of Honor in 2003 and Mayday in 2005. Because DeMille writes his novels longhand on legal pads with a pencil, and because of all the research he normally injects into each novel, it normally takes the author an estimated 16 months to produce a book. The author has a preference for Long Island as a setting in his novels, probably because of how long he has lived there. If you have read his books, you will notice that most of them have a lot of sarcasm and dry humor.Īdditionally, DeMille’s books almost always end inconclusively, leaving a lot of loose threads for the reader to think about.
